How could we talk about this legendary edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans without mentioning how successful ORECA’s cars were? After a busy race, full of surprises, ORECA’s prototypes achieved a spectacular performance with two places on the overall podium whilst also occupying the four first places in the LM P2 class, in the most symbolic endurance race in the world. The Jackie Chan DC Racing’s No. 38 was particularly impressive, having clinched the second place overall and first in class. This successful week was a reward for all of ORECA Technology’s crews who had worked hard on designing increasingly efficient and reliable cars.
Group ORECA’s events department also had an exceptional week in Le Mans, working in collaboration with team Toyota Gazoo Racing to offer VIP services and activities which the public particularly appreciated.
ORECA Events contributed to this successful week
Together with Toyota Gazoo Racing, and for the sixth consecutive year, ORECA Events welcomed important visitors within a VIP facility set up specifically for the event. Throughout the week, 900 guests visited this 600m² VIP hospitality space, right on the edge of the track where the ‘raccordement’ is! Guests had a great time at this two-floor VIP hospitality with a panoramic terrace offering a perfect view of the race. They also enjoyed permanent access to an open bar as well as cocktail dinners, and benefited from the knowledge of a motorsport expert who was delighted to share his experience of such a world-famous event as the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Additionally, a photographer captured our clients’ highlights throughout this exceptional week.
The VIPs programme aimed for them to have an unforgettable time. Greeted at the team’s private carpark, each participant was given a Welcome Pack as they arrived. The shuttle service specifically put in place for the event enabled the different groups to quickly move between the VIP hospitality and the various strategic corners of the track, together with a guide, also race expert.
Clients also had the unique opportunity to visit the pit box of one of the teams competing with a car manufactured by ORECA Technology. A motorsport, and 24 Hours of Le Mans, expert guided them, explaining more about the race and the daily life of a motorsport team. Through this visit, the guests had an even closer experience of the race, discovering a space which is usually exclusively accessed by contenders themselves.
ORECA Events also designed, set up and managed the Toyota Fan Village, visited by 51,000 spectators, offering them entertaining activities to do with the Japanese manufacturer’s brand universe. In addition to the large screens, visible from anywhere inside the structure, and broadcasting the race live, show cars were exhibited while simulators invited visitors to put themselves in the shoes of a race driver. Spectators also all had the opportunity to take part in a Pit Stop challenge which consisted in changing the four wheels of a Toyota race car, as quickly as possible. A photo booth, an interactive quiz as well as other activities were also available, for all visitors to bring a souvenir back home with them.
As for ORECA Events’ 50 members of staff, they all came back home with a smile on their face. This racing week in Le Mans will remain etched in the Group’s history forever. This year’s edition was special and successful on many different levels.
